Leaves were everywhere--covering the playground, the sidewalk, and our doorsteps. So I figured it was time I teach Coco what it is to build a leaf pile.

Some of our methods were unconventional.

We don't own a rake--but we made do.

Most of our neighbors were still in hibernation/vacation so we built that one by ourselves.

But the next day--oh boy. We really started something.

We could not believe how quickly our pile grew!

It was so cute to see all the kids, ages 0-11, constructing a massive leaf pile.

Seriously? It doesn't get more basic or old school than that, now does it?
These are the kind of days I want my kids to remember. These are the kind of days I want to cherish.

HOW FUN!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe you've begun a new tradition... a leaf-raking party each fall! Loved the pictures - it looked like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHey Hill, Those big piles of leaves were the best when I was a kid. All my cousins and I would go to our grandparent's vineyard, which was surrounded by walnut trees. The piles would be big enough to take a running jump and land into, and it was like landing on a soft mattress. We even buried ourselves underneath the piles when we played hide and seek. I love that you are old school. Keep making those memories, lady! They are so, so worth it, as Jonathon, Deanna, and I can attest to. Did you hear I am going to be a grandma? Jonathon and Ashley are due on July 9. The baby will be named Evan Wayne, after Mr. Trone, if it is a boy. Deanna is also getting married this summer. We are doing the full circle of life in a way that God understands, but I don't. Sometimes it is hard to trust Him, but I still know that He is good. I love you girl!
